Digital signage is a sub-segment of signage. Digital signs use technologies such as LCD, LED and Projection to display content such as digital images, video, streaming media, and information. They can be found in public spaces, transportation systems, museums, stadiums, retail stores, hotels, restaurants, and corporate buildings etc, to provide wayfinding, exhibitions, marketing and outdoor advertising.

Digital signage display is used as a network of electronic displays that are centrally managed and individually addressable for the display of text, animated or video messages for advertising, information, entertainment and merchandising to targeted audiences. Digital signage display is widely used in shopping malls as a form of directory or map display. Uses of digital signage include a wayfinding kiosk, enabling the customer to find their path through an interactive touchscreen. Recent digital signage have begun combining interactive advertisement with wayfinding application. This will offer shoppers who interact with the advertisement of the tenant in the shopping mall to the store. Another usage is disseminating relevant information such as the schedule of an event or campaign.

Outdoor digital signage is becoming used in recent times. The screen is usually enclosed to make it durable as it’s exposed to natural elements like rainfall, sunlight, and dust. It can be used to display price as you have at gas stations, for public awareness of an event or services in the community.

Self-service kiosk is all the rage at the moment. It’s becoming increasingly rare to find retail shops, restaurants and public spaces that don’t utilise self-service kiosk technology in some form. There are so many benefits of self-service kiosks that we couldn’t possibly fit them all into one post, so instead, we’ve just picked out seven of our favourites. One of the key benefits of self-service kiosks to your organisation is that they save on resources, particularly staff time. Take, for example, a self-service visitor management kiosk. These kiosks allow visitors, staff, and contractors to sign in using a kiosk without needing any assistance from a receptionist. This saves administration and reception staff valuable time that can be used for more pressing tasks.

One of the most significant advantages of an interactive whiteboard is that they enable far greater participation than traditional whiteboards. For example, interactive whiteboards can be used in conjunction with individual devices that enable participants or an audience to answer questions or vote from their seats and have their responses collected instantly on the whiteboard. They also enable people to manipulate information in ways that wouldn’t be possible or practical on a regular whiteboard, such as tapping to performing calculations on the screen, reveal layers of information, or moving information around with the tip of a finger.

LCD video wall has an advantage – scalability. For the size of video walls the limitation is the physical space of the wall or the funding limits. As the LCD technology matured, spacing between LCD displays became smaller and smaller and the LCD displays – brighter and brighter.

A mirror display is a two-way mirror with an inbuilt display behind the glass. The display can show anything you want on the mirror’s surface such as the current time, weather forecast, news feed, upcoming appointments, and more. Smart mirrors can come in all sizes from small table mirrors, to full bathroom mirrors. Smart mirrors are sometimes called “Magic” Mirrors, but they both refer to the same thing.

Touch table is the pointing technology based on sense of touch also known as haptics. It requires user to touch on the screen in order to activate desired functions. There are a variety of benefits or advantages of touch table. It is easy for inexperienced user to learn and operate with the help of touch of any one of the fingers. In addition, it saves lots of space and avoids external devices such as keyboard or mouse.
